The case for inventory management tools

IT managers are responsible for the safe keeping of IT assets including their internal components as well as software usage legal complience - a daunting task without the aid of the right tools. WMImonitor is simple to use and collects information on all hardware and software components of your Microsoft PC's and servers. It is easy to install, runs on any Microsoft SQL Server and is fully scalable to cater for even the largest network.

When implemented in conjunction with sitehelpdesk-IT or sitewebdesk,  it allows the recording any type of IT asset even those off the network. Instant detailed enquiries can be made within the help desks service and inventory management facilities and does not require separate access into the WMImonitor application.

*Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)

As the product name suggests, the WMImonitor agent heavily utilises Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) which is the Microsoft implementation of Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM). This is an industry initiative to develop a standard technology for accessing management information in an enterprise environment. WMI uses the Common Information Model (CIM) industry standard to represent systems, applications, networks, devices, and other managed components. The integration and use of WMI ensures fast and efficient, non-intrusive data collection techniques that do not burden local or network resources.
